“Apply for any scholarship you find, no matter how small. Every little bit helps, especially when it comes to paying for books and supplies.”
About Kylee
Arizona State University (ASU) student Kylee Rowsell recommends this year’s high school seniors start saving money for college now.
“Even if you receive financial aid, there may be some issues that come up that you weren’t planning,” Kylee said. “It’s very helpful to have a cushion for those times.”
Kylee, who is studying elementary education, hopes to one day become a principal at a Title I school.
“I want to work with elementary students because, in my opinion, that is when you can make the biggest difference in how a child feels about school,” she says.
To achieve her dreams, Kylee began preparing for college while she was still in high school. She credits getting involved with student council with helping her learn to communicate effectively and gain independence.
Completing her FAFSA helped Kylee qualify to receive a TEACH Grant, ASU College Attainment Grant and three different scholarships.
“FAFSA made my schooling possible,” said Kylee. “Without it, I wouldn’t be able to afford to put myself through school.”
